April, Friday 22nd: The Seneca Iroquois National Museum

The Seneca Indians (or Native Americans) are one of the 5 Iroquois nations who lived in the state of New York .

"Do you get it, Guillaume?"

The Seneca Nation was composed of 2 great families, the birds and the animals. According to the Seneca creation story, the woman was the first creature to appear on Earth.

From the 1700s on, they lived in small houses which could contain up to 10 people.

Before the arrival of the Europeans, they lived in long houses. They didn't live in tepee because they were farmers, they didn't need to follow the herds of buffalos like plain Indians.
